History of pediatrics. Infant and child protection. Basic epidemiologic
data. Preventive medicine. Newborn physiology and morbidity. Infant and child growth and development. Congenital genetic diseases. Inborn errors of metabolism. Hypovitaminosis. Endocrine diseases. Diseases of the GI tract. Diseases of the hematopoetic organs. Cardiovascular diseases. Rheumatic fever. Allergy in childhood.
Diseases of the immune system. Respiratory disorders. Disorders of the kidney and the urinary tract. Diseases of the nervous system. Musculo-sceletal disorders. Pediatric dermatology. Infectious diseases. Malignant disases in childhood. Practice : The most important goal of the practice
is to aquire a good skill in
examining patients and to be able to
make plans for diagnostic procedures and to bring up therapeutic
proposals. Physical examination of the infant and interpretation of findings. Recording physical findings in an infant. Practical issues in infant nutrition.
Monitoring infant growth
and development. Physical
examination of the child. Recording physical findings in a child. The importance of demographic measurements. The aspects of history taking. The proper attitude of the pediatrician towards the patient,
the parents and other relatives. The aspects of drug therapy in children.
Tasks to be fulfilled
: General physical examination,
throat examination, fontanel examination, signs of rickets, signs of tetany, screening for hip dysplasia, primitive reflexes, elementary movements, meningeal signs, neurologic examination, signs of maturity in the
newborn, blood pressure monitoring (flush method, cuffs, automatic, ABPM), demographic measurements, percentile tables, bathing, changing the diaper, taking the temperature,
reducing fever, modes of infant nutrition, obtaining and checking the urine and the blood smear, attending lumbal punctures, attending bone marrow aspirations,
devices of bowel biopsy, pH monitoring in the oesophagus, attending bladder catheterization, attending duodenal tube placement, performing the lactose test, acquiring samples for culture, interpreting the blood gases (Astrup), technique of intravenous infections. Special practices: Neonatal intensive care unit, gastroenterology, hematology, oncology, genetics, preventive medicine, cardiology, surgery, endocrinology, pulmonology. |

: 8 weeks (AOGY2GYESRA) The basic goal
of the practice in pediatrics is to get a good
general knowledge and aquire basic skills of a general practitioner. Managing patients under the supervision of a specialist, which involves physical examination, attending ward rounds, presenting cases and preparing hospital documents. Attending pediatric interventions. Interpreting laboratory results, analysing urine sediments and blood smears, getting familiar with radiologic characteristics in childhood. Attending consultations with specialists. |
